Internship Opportunities
Interns are responsible for answering calls to our center after completing a rigorous remote-based training. Callers may be experiencing loneliness, isolation, depression, suicidal thoughts and/or suicidality and interns will use active listening skills to deescalate and offer assistance to those who need additional resources.
After completing training, interns will be supported by Samaritans staff throughout their internship. Internships range from 10-20 hours per week based on the course of studies and each student is responsible for ensuring they meet their requirements through a flexible online scheduling tool.
If you are interested in learning more about our internships, please contact Jessamyn Leeks at jleeks@capesamaritans.org for more information.
“Interning at Samaritans provided me with a greater understanding of what it means to really listen, to simply be present with someone in need. It was the perfect place to learn these necessary skills in such a supportive environment.”
